Beginner's Manual - lesson 3:

What kind of deck should I have?

Remember first and only rule to tarot, and you will do fine *S*

What ever feels right for you

You have a choice to make among thousands of decks - tarot decks, oracle decks, healing, herbal, witch, medicine or pet cards. It is a jungle. You can risk having to go through many decks before you get that "yeah-hoo this is it!" feeling. Or maybe you are holding it in your hands right now?

Take it you do not know one thing about tarot.. my suggestion would be, choose a traditional one at first.

It has 78 cards, all are divided in the 3 sections you already have read about - majors, minors and courts. Any book ever written about tarot (not the little white books!) in general is using a traditional tarot deck.

Traditional decks:
Rider-Waite, Universal Waite, Albano-Waite, Original Waite, Golden Waite, Diamond Tarot, Gill Tarot, Hanson Roberts Tarot, Morgan Greer Tarot, New Palladini Tarot,  Robin Wood tarot, Thoth, Marseille, and so forth... *S*

It is uncertain that you will actually feel that special connection with this deck, no need to despair - think of it as a "learners-set", just to get the hang of suits, numbers, elements and basic meanings.

You will know when you find your deck, that special feeling that ensures you that the 2 of you are meant for each other. Or. You will end up as a life-time addict discovering and buying new decks absolutely unable to say no *grin*. Hold your patience though, links for where to browse through decks, meeting other tarot readers and deck addicts will come later on in the lessons.
